AIR PURIFIERS

In today’s world, it’s not just the air we breathe outside on the city streets, but the air inside our homes and offices, places where we should feel safe and secure, that has poses as potentially life-threatening.

Air pollution affects everyone. It’s impossible to hide from it. No matter where we are, we are continually surrounded by pollutants and toxins - especially in our own homes.

  • WE SPEND 90% OF OUR TIME INDOORS

That means we spend 90% of our time breathing recycled air. When air is recycled, especially through regular ventilation systems, dust, mold, bacteria, viruses, cigarette smoke, various chemicals and other toxins continually build, meaning their concentration is increased as the air is reused.

WE INHALE FROM 40,000 TO 75,000 DUST PARTICLES WITH EACH BREATH

The level of air pollution inside our homes can be 2, 5 or up to a hundred times greater than in the air outdoors. With each breath we inhale from 40,000 to 75,000 dust particles.

HEALTH EFFECTS MAY BE EXPERIENCED YEARS AFTER EXPOSURE

    • Have you ever had headaches or an irritated nose and throat that would not go away?

    • Allergic reactions?

    • Dizziness and fatigue, even after a good night’s sleep?

These symptoms can be easily ignored or explained. Over-the-counter medications, such as aspirin or cold medicine, hide and mask them, keeping us from looking for their cause.

  • DO YOU LIVE WITH A SMOKER?

Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), or second-hand smoke, is just as harmful as smoking itself, if not more so. Conjunctival irritation, wheezing, snoring, exacerbation of chronic respiratory conditions, heart disease, and cancer are some of the health risks associated with second-hand smoke.

    SICK BUILDING SYNDROME

As technology develops at an increasingly fast pace and we continue build newer and more modern buildings more quickly, albeit with the less environmentally conscious materials, a new type of illness called “Sick Building Syndrome” has been documented.

High amounts of toxic substances are emitted from flooring, carpets, plastics, furniture, adhesives, paint, varnishes, modern construction materials, synthetic fabrics and many other sources used to build office building.

Sick Building Syndrome causes persistent coughs, irritation, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, allergic reactions, weakness, asthma, irritation and respiratory infections.

  • On average, we take about 23 000 breaths/day, inhaling over
11 000 L of air a day, and that’s nearly 8 litres every minute. Imagine
breathing this much polluted air. Nine out of 10 people globally are reathing
poor quality air. 98 percent of the world's city dwellers breathe polluted
    outdoor and indoor air.

The indoor and outdoor air we breathe contains dust particles, lead, arsenic, mercury, benzene, ioxins, cadmium - to name a few, which we inhale into our bodies and they affect our health making us mentally and physically sick.

Many studies directly link the size of particles to their potential for causing irreversible health problems. Small particles of less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter have the biggest health impact, because they can penetrate the alveoli and enter the systemic circulation (bloodstream), spreading toxins to all organs of the body in only a matter of few seconds.

220-300 € was the cost of air pollution in 2009 for each (EU) citizen coming from the 10 000 largest polluting facilities.

97% of Europeans are exposed to O3 concentration above the World Health Organization recommendations.

63% of Europeans say they reduced their car use in the last two years in order to improve air quality.
